Blackburn Railway Station

Blackburns redeveloped railway station is in line for a Civic Pride 2002 design award from the town's civic society.

The £6 million renovation project has been described by the chairman of the civic society as "A terrific improvement on what was there before. It's very user friendly and is very modern. When you look at the station you think it looks good. The previous building was dark and this is very friendly"

The opportunity for involvement in this project arose when the electrical contractors asked Lamps & Lighting to design lighting products for the Holiday Inn at Manchester Airport. Due to the success of the scheme provided for the hotel the relationship developed and the contractors felt confident Lamps & Lighting could design and provide innovative and energy saving lighting solutions for the station.

Lamps & Lighting designed and installed pendants, lighting columns with aesthetically pleasing contemporary lampheads and energy efficient electronic fluorescent lighting which contains integral emergency lighting.
